Cavallotto Barolo Bricco Boschis 2011The 2011 vintage was a vintage of extremes; one that showed two radically different faces at different parts of the year. Until the 7 August, the vintage was cooler than normal with the exception of 5 days of heat at Easter which led to a very even bud break. After the 10th of August it was hot and dry thru October. Our Barolo Bricco Boschis shows the perfume and generosity of fruit & flowers (raspberries, cherries and roses) that come from the heat at the end of the season, but with a foundation of cool-vintage acid and tannins that give this wine both its structure and potential longevity. This is a wine that can be enjoyed earlier than other vintages, but has the complexity and structure to reward several years of cellaring. Long, dry and precisely focused finish. Notes on Matching with Food: The wine is best with second courses of red meat, simply grilled or roasted. Also good with hard and aged cheeses. It can also be enjoyed as a "vino da meditazione" (a wine for meditiation) by iteslf.
Villadoria Barolo 2012A traditional Barolo, it is garnet red with ruby highlights. On the nose it is intense, with over-blown rose, violet and forest undergrowth nuances, cherries in alcohol, liquorice, truffle and tobacco aromas. It is an elegant, balanced wine with a complex palate, considerable body and good acidity. The noble wine par excellence, it continues to evolve for at least 20 years after the harvest. Food Pairings: Red meat based, braised dishes and game, aged cheeses. Excellent with the traditional dishes of the Langhe.
Poderi Luigi Einaudi Barolo Terlo Vigna Costa Grimaldi 2011The result of an accurate selection of grapes from the Einaudi vineyard in Barolo. A great wine of the Langa, garnet red with a shade of amber, of intense and embracing fragrance, full bodied but smooth tannic taste, with a long spiced final taste. Derived from the Nebbiolo grapes from the Costa Grimaldi vineyard owned by the Einaudi estate, facing Barolo. The tannic characteristics guarantee a long life in bottle. With time it acquires complexity as the ethereal aromas of spices, truffles and leather.
Marcarini MARCARINI BAROLO BRUNATE 750ML 2009"Marcarini's 2009 Barolo Brunate is drop-dead gorgeous. The aromas and flavors are a bit brighter and more floral than is often the case, while the darker, balsamic notes typical of Brunate are less evident. Instead, it is the wine's textural finesse and sweetness that speak loud and clear. Hard candy, dried roses and sweet red berries wrap around the textured, inviting finish. Classicists might prefer the 2008, but the 2009 is strikingly beautiful in its own way. Best of all, it will drink well pretty much right out of the gate." Antonio Galloni - Vinous: 94
